One of a kind Chrysler now in Victoria

Chrysler 300C

A vintage car enthusiast in Victoria has added a rare Chrysler car to his collection.

Frankston resident Rod Hokin recently purchased a 1932 Chrysler Imperial sedan from America.

The car is believed to be one of only seven in the world in original condition - and the only one of its kind in Australia.

The car has a unique history itself. It was one of the last cars owned by New York gangster Jack 'Legs' Diamond before his death.

Mr Hokin told the Frankston Weekly that the Australian vintage car market was dwindling, as many cars were sold and taken overseas.

"They are becoming increasingly difficult to purchase," he said.

"Most of the good vintage European cars are gone now."

While rare Chrysler cars may be hard to come by, fans of the brand may find that a more modern take on the classic car can still stand the test of time and offers plenty of innovative safety features to boot. One option to consider is the Chrysler 300C, and the 2012 model is on track for a July release.
