New Chrysler Cars in the Australian Market

October 2011

Chrysler Group LLC is a United States-based car manufacturer with headquarters in Michigan. The company traces its roots back to 1925 and over the years it has established itself as one of the top automobile producers with a global reach. Recently, Chrysler dealt with a series of major changes including new management. However, despite the shakeup new Chrysler cars have been among the preferred models among Australian motorists.

Though the company has been rolling out new cars on a consistent basis, management had recently opted to make Chrysler an upscale brand that would please even the most discerning car lovers in the country. Although most people already equate Chrysler to luxury cars, the company is taking its reputation to another level by building their units to rival the best in their respective classes. This is what chief executive officer Olivier Francois envisioned when he took over in 2009 after Fiat acquired a stake in Chrysler in the U.S.

As for new Chrysler cars available in the Australian market, there are two remarkable cars that would surely captivate prospective buyers, both from the aesthetics and performance perspectives. First up is the 300C which comes in three trim levels, the entry/base level, the Hemi and the range topping SRT-8. The 300C is basically an upgraded version of its predecessor, the Chrysler 300 and interested buyers can choose between rear-wheel and all wheel drive (AWD). The 300C stands out with its massive chrome grille which is perfectly complemented by huge 20-inch forged alloy wheels. At first glance, it will remind you of a Rolls Royce or a Bentley. The Hemi and the AWD base models are powered by a 5.7 litre Hemi V8 engine which generates up to 370 hp. The powerplant is mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox. The high-revving SRT-8 is equipped with a powerful Hemi V8 that is capable of a whopping 425 hp, allowing the car to go accelerate from zero to 100 and back to a standstill in just 17 seconds. That’s remarkable when you consider the fact that the 300C is a hefty car which tips the scale at over 4,000 pounds! Both V8 engines are capable of deactivating cylinders while coasting along under low loads, which greatly improves fuel efficiency. Standard amenities for the 300C include SmartBeam headlamps, electronic stability control, traction control and four-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes.

For those who are looking for a classy multi-purpose car, the Chrysler Grand Voyager is the ideal choice. It is bigger than most MPVs so if you have a large family and you want a minibus-like car, then you may want to check out the Grand Voyager. It offers lots of space owing to its innovative fold-away rear seats. People at Chrysler also made sure that all occupants are safe by integrating a host of safety features such as standard dual front and knee airbags, full length curtain airbags for the three rows, electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, tire pressure monitoring system and rear parking sensors. To date Chrysler has produced over 10 million MPVs in two decades, so if you intend to buy a new Grand Voyager, you are joining a huge club of satisfied owners.
